It was a random Tuesday when a walk to the liquor store seemed to be the perfect thing to do. It was August therefore the weather was humid and hot and a cold white wine sounded like it would hit the spot. I was in a girly mood and I noticed a bottle of wine with a label that seemed to compliment my mood. It was a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc from Cupcake Vineyards. The label was in a lavender script with an ornate border design. The bottle also indicated that it was a 2009 Marlborough, which made me think of the train stop I got off of once when I was traveling in England. Yes, I know I make choices on emotions; this is not always a good thing. In reality on this Tuesday, Marlborough really meant a place in New Zealand. I thought to myself, that I don’t drink much wink from New Zealand, and now I know why. The Sauvignon Blanc from Cupcake Vineyards was very sweet, almost too sweet and it had a very cheap alcohol flavor of an aftertaste. Hence, I drank it anyway. It was good and cold and made me feel a little loopy. I had two glasses that night and when I woke up I thought my head was going to pop off. I had the worst headache ever and it lasted for almost 12 hours. So overall it is a thumb down on the Sauvignon Blanc from Cupcake Vineyards. It is a great lesson and warning that all Cheap Wine Bottles are not good. Although I still love the label and the name, I think I will stick to California and Italian wines. P.S. The bottle had a twist off cap. I should have known!
